Subway on Houston????? Now wouldn't that be fun. Can you say flood, anything like that would face loads of groundwater intrusion not to mention what would happen when it rains.
For what its worth, I agree about the street level train...darn near got hit by one of those and it was NOT my fault, I had a green light.

Default Houston needs elevation!

Well Houston should have an elevated project, but not on the street, we want to reduce traffic having mass transit, but not by taking up lanes on streets and stopping cars when the train passes. In many cases they will just crash!

Yup! They crash on a pretty regular basis, I think someone is keeping the stats but they stopped announcing them after the first 9 months or so. The numbers were pretty staggering back then...I wonder what they are now.

I think the problem is that those railcars are almost completely silent and there are no crossing gates. I was almost a statistic right before the Houston Superbowl. Good thing I had an extra pair of underwear in the glovebox.

They may have stopped giving out the data, but any Metro crashes are still reported by the news people. Crashes have dropped since 2004, and most of them are the fault of the drivers of autos.

I think they should have made the rail like Miami's MetroRail. Off the ground.
