Thanks for the responses everyone. I expected Harvey to have some impact but not a 30% increase.
I will shop around like how was suggested on here. Can't hurt to see what others have to offer.

I just got a bill from Geico - and my premium has increased for the 3rd time by $50. 2 cars, no violations, no accidents and none are luxury - sick of this premium increase. Can you post as to which insurance companies you are looking into?
Also, is it okay to go with B rated insurance companies (other than - Geico, Allstate, State Farm etc.)? Any experience or tips/tricks.

My current one is Amica.
I don't want to go to any B rated ones. At the moment, I am going to get quotes from State Farm, Geico and eSurance and Liberty Mutual.

Anyone come across a good tool to compare rates without contacting each carrier individually?

I've actually had decent luck just complaining to our agent. The insurance for our motorcycles jumped up, so we called and complained about it...well asked what was going on. They agreed, and called back later with much better rates. I don't think we even threatened to leave.

Car insurance is just like the health insurance market. This is why they want healthy non sick people to pay for health care so it will lower premiums for everyone even though the healthy people don't use the insurance.

Yes majority of us are safe drivers, but all of the other people having accidents and making claims mean we pay more because of their payouts.

Texting and driving has caused many accidents and is becoming very costly.

I have progressive and thankfully with them my insurance renews every 12 months. So I lock in those lower rates longer.

The Texas Department of Insurance has rate and policy comparison tools for you. There is other very helpful information there as well. This can be used for auto and home insurance comparisons. This is a link to their consumer page and the comparison tools.
