Default houston health/tech job market?

just curious.. my husband works in software technical support (ie: he takes client complaints and writes software updates to fix their issues) mainly he works with oracle, has a 2 year degree in computers, about 5 years experience.
I have 4 yr comp sci degree former webmaster/dba but have worked in health administration for the last 4 years as a supervisor. What is the tech market like out there? I hear there are a lot of oil/gas related jobs and they want substantial experience. True? Here in Boston there are more tech jobs than people to fill them (mostly mid level career jobs). The health administration jobs seem to be on the billing end and require crazy amounts of experience (here the same job require maybe 6mths experience there 7-8 years experience.) I was hoping to go back to work full time in a hospital IS setting.

I"m wondering, now that 2 months have passed, how did you make out?
My husband is also tech (engineer specialist in fiber) and I am healthcare admin (case mgt and marketing). We are brand new to the area and I havent' gotten "out there" yet...
