Default Looking for a Mother's Day Out Program or School

Hi,
I have a 17 month old little boy and was thinking of putting him in a Mother's Day Out program or school for 1-2 days a week for a few hours. I think this would be great for him to be around other kids and also give me some time do my things. I take him to the library storytime sometimes and had him in Gymboree during their summer session.

He's an active toddler and loves other children. I am looking for something preferbly on the NW side of town and hopefully not too expensive. If you can recommend a good program with great loving teachers, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Noahs Ark on Cypress North Houston, and Wee Ones on Cypress North Houston and Huffmeister are good ones. Also the Metropolitin Baptist Church on Jones Road has a really good one.

Default Great Mother's Day Out

Northwoods Presbyterian Church has a wonderful Mother's Day Out / Preschool (the Early Learning Center Preschool). It is very flexible and the teachers are wonderful. Most of the teachers have been there for quite some time and they are really caring. The website for the church is Northwoods Presbyterian Church - Home if you want to check it out. They also are having summer camps for 8 weeks this summer that you can sign up for on a week-by-week basis. You might want to send your son for a few weeks and see how he likes it. As a stay-at-home mom with two children under the age of three, I know how stressful it is to find a place you trust.

A few good ones I know of in the NW area, though the wait list may be long and you'll have to wait a while...

- Metropolitan Baptist Church (The Met)
- Cypress Bible Church
- St. John Lutheran Church

Ours is in the program at Cypress Bible Church, and I can highly recommend it.

Both of my boys attend Mother's Day Out at Bethel Church of Houston (aka Bethel Independent Presbyterian Church). They've been attending there for more than two years now and have had a superb experience. What I think sets Bethel apart from many others is their faithfulness to God's Word in each classroom (no matter what age). Each caregiver (childcare teacher?) spends some time each day in the Bible and uses games and crafts to help communicate the moral of the lesson that day.

As well, Paula - the director, is absolutely fantastic! She has many years of experience and does a superb job at making kids (and parents) feel comfortable and welcome.

Last I spoke with Paula, she stated that they are eagerly looking to grow the program and have many childcare positions available. Because it is two days a week, it offers local Houston moms a chance to take Wednesdays and Thursdays off (from 9:30 - 2:30) to relax, enjoy some personal time, etc. My wife eagerly awaits those days and is very comfortable leaving our boys there in the care of the loving caregivers. Our boys often hate to leave. Give it a try!
