From Katy is I-10 or Westpark Toll a faster commute to the U of Houston area during the high traffic times?

Default traffic

Definitely take Westpark tollway during traffic times. I-10 is just a terrible headache. It will cost you $3-$5 in tolls, but atleast you probably won't be in a bad mood when you get to class from sitting in traffic.

I-10 might be worth it if you have a carpooling companion (depending on the time you need either 2 in the car or 3) - then you could take the HOV lane - and it is free while the Westpark is not.

Whoa, that's almost $8 a day. Where exactly do you get on it in town? Do you enter from 610? My husband has been trying to figure it out by looking on the web. He will be travelling to U of H, any suggestions of how to travel would be great. The commute from Katy to U of H is the only thing he is not looking forward to about living in Hou.

Katy is "on the other side of the world" from UH. Do you work in west Houston? What prompted Katy as the burb of choice when such a commute is required?

We found a Christian school for the kids in Katy, but will be working at U of H.

I hear a lot of talk (groaning) from people who actually drive this 2-lane freeway and they say it's hardly worth the $8/day / $40/wk / $170/mo to ride it. The only time it is worth it, they say, is for a Katy to Galleria or Downtown weekend outing.

Is it worse than I-10?
