The term Stink-A-Dena came around in the 1960's when the majority of the city was built along hwy 225 and that is the highway that the chemical plants are all on. Parts of Pasadena border Clear Lake and some luxury waterfront Clear Lake homes actually have a Pasadena address. Whatever you are smelling in Pearland -- get a grip on yourself (or maybe get over yourself) it isn't Pasadena. You might want to check the demographics too - some of those people who live in Pasadena .. SHOCK ... may have a higher income than you and be less snooty.
HAHA is right. I grew up in Pasadena - 28 years. My parents still live there. Yes, it did have its moments with the stinkiness, but that is due to the plants and an occassional wind change. I now live in Shadow Creek also, and never, NEVER smelled anything of the sort in Pearland.

In ANY suburb you move to - the closer you are with easy access to a major freeway - the more randoom crime you have - break-ins, burglaries, etc. That is any city though -- it just easy access on and off a freeway. Something to think about when buying a home -- sometimes a little farther in and more traffic to face is worth it. And to Pearlanders - a warning to heed. rRecently, a 7-months pregant woman was leaving Target in Pearland (288 area) at 10 a.m. in the morning. As she was on the passenger rear seat of her car strapping her 3-yr-old in to his carseat, she heard her front door on the driver side open - a young, bandanna'd man was getting in, she dropped low to the ground and he ran around, put a gun into her face and her side while trying to force her into her vehicle. She hit the panic button on her car alarm and he eventually ran away to the car of a waiting accomplice, after badly brusing and scraping her. She found out that he had been successful the previous day in forcing a man into his vehicle and emptying his ATM (luckily he didn't injure him) from the Walmart directly across the street. A couple in Missouri City was later robbed and the man fatally injured by a man matching this same description. Just keep your eyes open when you are in parking lots and get in and out of your vehicle as quickly as possible.
