Texans tycoon plots new ultra-luxury hotel
In a move that cements two of Houston’s biggest tycoons as real estate neighbors — and luxury competitors — a new upscale, mixed-use development anchored by an ultra-luxury Rosewood Hotel is being planned for the corner of Post Oak Boulevard and Richmond Avenue. The concept is the brainchild of Houston-based McNair Interests, a private investment and management firm founded by Texans owner Robert C. McNair.
The proposed a six-acre project, set to open in 2023 and break ground next year, will be in close proximity to Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitita’ swank Post Oak Hotel, making Post Oak Boulevard even more of covered hospitality destination — and a potential hub for star-watching.
The overall development will also include office building, apartments, high-end restaurants and shops, and is a bold luxury play for McNair Interests. "This is a defining development for McNair Interests and the city of Houston," Cary McNair, Chairman and CEO of McNair Interests, said in a statement. I saw this article this morning - exciting stuff. This is a great location and just another case of the Boulevard project adding value to the Uptown area. The smart developers are getting in now. Once its complete, property values (already expensive) will explode there. The street has the potential to be the greatest in Texas, and I fully expect it to get there in the next 5-7 years. I also expect more luxury hotel starts in the coming years as the economy recovers.
Exciting times for Uptown.

Be nice if they could include some kind of half mile elevated transport up and down post oak..Richmond ave. is too far to walk in the heat if you wanna go to Willie G's. Driving is out of the question in the resulting congestion that will occur....Buses will be snarled in traffic.

The whole point of the dedicated bus lanes is to have frequent buses that don't get snarled in traffic, because they're in their own space. They'll still have to stop at traffic lights, but obviously won't be waiting in a long queue. They should be reasonably effective at doing what you describe - as long as frequent service is provided.

Didn't know about the bus lanes....It would be cool if they used Jitney vans to get from Richmond ave to Uptown Park and thereabouts....The Tycoons should make that a free service...

These responses talking about "only accessible by car", "buses will be snarled", etc. are funny. Thats not how busways work. Im going to be laughing in a few years when people realize they will be able to park their cars somewhere near Post Oak and easily access the entire corridor via bus. Its going to be amazing for the area and make it a lot less congested. Methinks a lot of folks misunderstand how busways like this actually work. Curitiba's system is an excellent example. Its going to make getting up and down Post Oak way simpler.
