So me and my boyfriend are moving from D.C. to Houston area. We currently live in Columbia, MD but we plan to live in Houston for 6 months to a year before buying a home. We hear the biggest concern is traffic but we are not worried because our current commute is about 45min to and hour and a half. Plus both of us are in IT so we are very flexible where we able to find work.
My biggest concern is finding a home in a community that is diverse. We are both in our late 20's and Black and once we have a family I want our children to meet other children of different backgrounds like I had growing up in Columbia, Md. I have done a little research on FBISD and KISD but I can really see a huge difference other than fbisd seem more diverse.
Is there anyone who can give me more insight on FBISD vs. KISD?

I am from Owings Mills, MD and have relatives in Columbia. I know a lot about Columbia and Howard County. We live in FBISD and are zoned for Elkins High which is very diverse- we were at freshman orientation yesterday. Elkins is in Missouri City- seems like that would be a great fit for you. Welcome to TX!

We are in the process of moving to sugarland, Texas. The first thing my husband said when driving around was “ it is just like Columbia”. I grew up in Columbia as well......in the 1970’s.

KISD is also diverse, especially the schools north of the Katy Freeway.
