I can't remember another city being repped like Houston.
Only NYC AND LA come to mind. Most of Houstonians who made it to Hollywood or in the music business seem to always put Houston up high.

They are proud to be from Texas, but most importantly from Houston.

I've noticed how Houston has Held it down for Texas. Houston showed the world that Texas isn't just horses and cowboys or oil fields. It's an international state.

Astroworld is proof of that.

I love this city. And I'm not even from here. Imagine all the kids today who will be famous actors or singers or rappers or whatever. They will keep Houston on the map.

I hope to see Houston in 20 years.

I get to enjoy best of both worlds. I'm a angeleno/Houstonian. The two sister cities.

That's because Houston made them who they are. Houston rappers always represent their hometown, shoot videos in their old neighborhood and do a lot to help their communities where they came up.

Wait, how is Astroworld proof of that?

Wow, didn’t realize all those Paul Wall videos were shot in Jersey Village.

It's going to end up being one of those classic Houston albums imo. I've never thought Travis Scott was the greatest of rappers, but he's definitely grown and his production is always on point. This album is another reflection of that and is going to be fondly remembered years from now in the city.

For the most part, Houston rappers always shoot videos in their city/old neighborhood.

Thank you for bringing this back to reality.

Rap or any kind of music isnt proof of "awesomeness" of a city. The most talented act currently "repping" Houston is Oceans of Slumber. The lead vocalist has an amazing voice and their members can play multiple instruments. But rappers tend to be more flamboyant about things they have and I guess that give people something to aspire to. The most talented musicians are not the ones that produce beats, but can actually play musical instruments.

Travis Scott is talented and I thought Astroworld was very well done, but dont make it out to be more than what it is.

You do know a lot of the top hip hop producers are also talented musicians right? It's not one or the other.

And rap has many different forms and genres. It'd be wrong to try and classify it as one way, just like you can't classify rock or country.

I wasnt implying that wasnt the case. I know many producers can play musical instruments. What I am saying is that, musical instruments are much harder to play than creating beats in a computer. It takes more talent to do that. If a person can do all the above, more power to them.

This isnt specific to rap. I have this same conversation with friends of mine that like EDM and techno. Im not saying talent isnt required to produce beats and rap, but more talent is required to be a multi-instrumentalist or vocalist. And again Im aware many people do both.
