Let me clarify that I meant the best overall PUBLIC high school in the metro area. It does have a reputation for having spoiled, materialistic kids, but those criticisms tend to be based upon anecdotal evidence and are often blown out of proportion. I've heard similar remarks about Kingwood HS and The Woodlands HS. Most of those kids are probably pretty level headed.

Definitely over blown. Bottom line is any area that is predominately white gets labeled as snobby. Kingwood, Woodlands, Memorial, Friendswood...they all are called a bunch of rich spoiled kids who do designer drugs b/c mommy and daddy can afford it. Its tired, but its repeated all the time.

My oldest daughter went to memorial HS with a bunch of rich spoiled kids who had "I'm better than you" attitudes. My younger kids go to great private schools, and enjoy it. There are several really good private schools in Houston, and a significant percentage of the kids in the memorial attend them.
