Default Conroe

Considering the Conroe area to move to. How far of a commute is it to George Bush Airport? What is the flooding/tornado/act of God weather like in that area? Any information on Conroe would be appreciated.

Thanks

Wink Commuting to George Bush Airport from Conroe

It's about a 30 minute drive and it's really not a bad drive at all. I would definatly advise you to take the toll road during high traffic, which you will run into from time to time.

I've lived just about everywhere in Houston, but in May, 2005 I bought a house in Montgomery (just passed Papa's on the Lake), going West out 105 towards April Sound. From I-45, it's roughly 40ish minutes - depending on traffic, but the last poster is correct, take the Hardy - it's worth the $2.50 if you don't have a toll tag. I work DT Houston and when I drive in every so often (I take the Woodlands Express in daily that my firm pays for), it takes me an hour (unless like tomorrow, there will be no traffic and it will take 45 minutes (was that fast the Wed before Thanksgiving).

There is traffic on the Hardy because of the construction, but in the left lane, (like the fast lane up North) be prepared to drive over 80 otherwise, get out of their way. Conroe is changing and it’s a good time to be there as it’s growing more and more – new shops, strip malls, once we got a Kohls I knew it was changing…soon enough people will be looking to live in Huntsville to get away from the big city. It’s great, too, being so close to the lake (thankfully now that it’s back up).

I meant to tell you about the flooding, where I am, it's a slope and high up, so I can't vouch for too many areas, but do your research - there are low-lying areas much like Houston, and areas that are hilly...I've heard in the past about flooding of Spring Creek and when we had the rain a couple of months ago that one Monday, 336 got pretty bad - and the feeder roads leading out towards the Woodlands, going South on I-45 -
