International School for international people
Hello,
I am moving to Houston to work from Finland.
I have 7 year old daugher and need to find a school for her.
Of course she doesn't speak english at all.
I don't no yet the address where I'm going to live. I would be very happy if someone could inform me some schools where I should contact or give some additional information how to proceed whit this. Any recomendations?
Thanks!

Her first language is Finnish of course. I have started to teach her myself some words of english but usually clidren at this age learn very quickly. How about school system? what kind of dates this age child has? Let say if child shcool ends 1pm so what they usually do there if they are waiting parents to pick them after work? Is there some kind of clubs after school? What kind of days they usually have? Starts from 8.00am - 1.00pm or what? Thanks for the answers!

My daughter went to the British School- good for English and Dutch.
The Awty School has a large French section. It is extremely multinational, but the key thing is to know English.
I am not aware of anything Finnish.
Check with your equivilant of our Foreign Office, or your company for whom you are working.

If you plan on going to Westchester - Spring Branch ISD allows non-SBISD resident people to attend district schools. Just make sure that he or she will have a reasonable chance of getting in before setting your sights on that school.

The Awty International School has bilingual education 3 to 12 years old, and offers a 3rd language in middle school. They also offer an International Baccalaureate degree for those kids attending college outside the U.S. (because U.S. high school diplomas are not considered adequate for admission). Financial aid applications are due beginning in February. Only about half the students are American. Great school for bright kids who otherwise would not thrive in your average public high school.
