The temperature fell to 64F this morning, which semi-officially means that “fall” has arrived in Houston.
Accordingly to our records, this is the second-latest date on which a 65-degree or cooler night has come to Houston in the months of September or October. The only later date came back in 1904, on October 13th.
Temperatures will probably rebound toward the end of next week, with highs of around 80F by the weekend.

Enjoy fall, y’all!

Felt great this morning with a nice cool breeze. Felt so good, I took a rare walk around the neighborhood for the first time since moving here 4 years ago.

Same thing every year,
Houston doesn't cool down until October .... but people keep on thinking that next year it will cool down in September

Every.Year.

And then in the spring, we will have some nice warm sunny days and people will think that summer is on it's way. Then late spring comes along and brings a freeze or 2. And kills all the plants that people have just planted.

Morning was nice but then the sun kicked in and was hot again. Humidity was low so the shade was nice, unfortunately, tomorrow will be a high of 89°. I always get a good laugh out of people who bring out the sweaters for a cool morning. Allergies killed me today.

In Houston's entire climate record, going back to 1892, only three years have had a spring freeze beyond the month of March, the latest being April 3 of 1987:

So yeah, hardly common in any sense of the word. And keep in mind the data comes from the airport well north of the city.
