Attn: Lake Conroe Resident (and others)
I would love to chat with you regarding the area as my wife has been offered a position in Conroe and I in Trinity as PT's. We have a young, very active family, 2 girls, 1 boy all in school and need for great schools and lots of extra activities. My wife and I are very active in health and fitness and come from lake/ocean lifestyles and would love the chance to live close to the lake assuming all other requirements (above) could be met. We originally focused in on Woodlands (as many do) but came to the conclusion that just cause it is the woodlands does not mean it is the end all be all...we love to have shops close but are not career shoppers...Can you provide some guidance about communities that have quick access to Conroe, family oriented and lots of amenties such as swim teams etc and are close to the best schools? Thanks in advance

I would have to go with The Woodlands. It has all that your looking for and is not far from Conroe. The villages of Alden Bridge or College Park might be something for you to look into. They are located right at 242 and may be convenient for you.

SkyeAnjel, thanks for your reply
Our big concern is proximity to the kids school at the end of the day and the best schools in the area Spring/Conroe/Woodlands. I will be faced with a commute to Trinity in the short term unless the company can offer me a facility in Tomball/Conroe but I think I have to make it work in the short term to prove myself. Our kids (and Mom and Dad) need the amenities of soccer/swim/lacrosse teams and great school programs such as band/sports and my oldest daughter will be in grade 8 and is now in the international scholars track at school. You are bang on with Alden and Park I had picked these as best options also...but I am concerned about fees/taxes and market value appreciation in 3-5 years as we may need to make a lateral move to get our daughters to university...from that perspectitive could we get more for our $$$ in Lake Conroe etc as I often read people say against the woodlands. I noticed you list a real estate agent are you active now?

I believe your more likely to get what you want out of the schools in The Woodlands then Conroe. In The Woodlands, your home is also more likely to appreciate because everyone wants to live there. In a couple of years there will be no more land to build on so it will be my guess that the resale value will go up. The Woodlands has a great mass marketing plan and most people who relocate here want to see it because they have heard about it. The Woodlands is beautiful and has everything, from shopping, to golf courses, great schools, parks, trails, outdoor concerts and on and on. It can be more expensive but not enough to rule it out. They are also stricter on deed restrictions then alot of places but that is what keeps it nice. You should definitely consider it. As far as Lake Conroe, I really don't know alot about it except that they have very nice areas and areas that are not so nice. It depends on your price range and not all of the schools are desirable. You may be able to get more home there depending on where you choose to live but resale may not be as high. You should really check the schools (call them, visit) in the neighborhoods you choose and check the area out for yourself. You may just find the perfect home there.
I am a practicing agent in The Woodlands but I live in Klein.

Why not live in one of the subdivisions on the West side of the lake? Great schools (Montgomery) nice neighborhoods with lots of families and lower fees/tax rate than the Woodlands. Not to mention they are in the process of building a mall in Conroe so no need to go and fight all the yuppies and traffic in the Woodlands.

Do you realize that Trinity is rather far from Conroe? That's almost like a Galveston-to-Greenspoint drive on 45, distance-wise, going across the entire Houston metro basically. Have you looked at the Lake Livingston area?

He's right, this would be quite a drive for you, though I don't think there would be much traffic as it's going the other way...

Yes, there's plenty, just stay in the Montgomery ISD as the areas on the East side of the lake will be in the Conroe or Willis ISD.

It's right at 100 miles round-trip. That's a long way to drive for work every day.
