This would be a big deal if Houston could land this puppy. Assuming Congress and future administrations follow though on the concept of a "Space Force"..

Gov. Greg Abbott wants the U.S. Space Force headquarters to be at Ellington Airport.

In a letter to President Donald Trump, Abbott said Texas has the universities and human capital needed to support a Space Force and pitched the location next door to NASA's home for human spaceflight.

"Houston has supported the aerospace, aviation and defense industries for decades, giving it a workforce that can get the Space Command headquarters up and running as fast as possible," he wrote.

Now, what happens when that guy loses the election next year and the secessionist knuckledraggers start pounding their chests again? Do we keep Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the space rangers or not?

Also, this "space force" isn't happening. Not here, not anywhere. Just like the wall. It's all stuff Trump pulls out of his ass because it sounds good to his rubes.

Congress will never let Trump get Space Force in place. And Abbott has no influence... he can't even influence his alma mater.

The space program only gets supported and endorsed when someone gets something in return from it, or more typically, when they've run out of ways to get attention. It's easy to promote it - as few reject it - but hard to actually get funding and make things happen.

NASA was an instrument in the technological peter-measuring contest with the USSR, and nobody cares anymore after it collapsed.

LOL Well, NASA never "collapsed", so I'm not sure what you're talking about. But they continue on doing as much science as they can with limited funding, so they earn my respect.
