Houston was #5 for smog but didn't even make the top 25 for particles. LA, no surprise #1 for both, but you can hear them talking **** about Houston's air all day because we had a time several years ago when we were #1. My membranes have never been burned so badly by polluted air as they have during springtime in LA. Summertime is bad in Houston for pollution because there are no cold fronts to blow everything out and start over clean.

I'd imagine we have more pollen here though. Oaks are what kill me this time of year, but OTC med at bedtime does the trick. Half a Unisom blue tablet per night for a few weeks is all I need. The 'sleeping pill' is simply the antihistamine found in NyQuil, w/o the other fluff. The real Sudafed (used for making meth) helps in the daytime when things get clogged.

My dog gets ''cedar fever'' and breaks out in bumps. Ashe Juniper pollen gets heavy in January around here. Not nearly as bad as Central Tx but we have our share.
Stop it, you Houston booster you!

Thats funny. Im just the opposite. We are in the heavy green pollen stage in southern Nevada now. My allergies are so bad I sleep with a melting candy in my mouth.

I just got back from the Houston area. The first day I got there my nose was already clearing. Just this past friday 4-18 I sat on my dock on Lake Livingston with those extreme east winds blowing directly at me as I sat there for hours on end just taking it in. There were 8' waves blasting over the bulkhead. I guess the extra moisture in the air I was breathing cured my nose because by the next day I was breathing with my nose again.

All day Saturday and Sunday I spent in Conroe and Woodlands on 2 job interviews. I spent all the rest of my time around all the heavily wooded areas and still no allergie act ups.

Humidity has it's good points. It dont bother me at all.

Go to the doctor and get tested. I developed wind-borne allergies at about the age of 12 while living in Corpus Christi, suffered as a young adult for 12 years in Houston, thought they would get better in Denver...they didn't...live in Kerrville where I "die" from cedar fever every year, and just got back from Taos where I had the worst attack ever. My bottom line is: I've tried running and I can't hide...the doctor said that I'll develop a new set of allergies no matter where I live and so far he has been right. If you find the answer, please let me know. Until then, I use Claritan D, Flonase, and Napthcon A eyedrops.

Just trying to squelch the rumors. However I wouldn't be surprised at all if we're back to #1 by at least one methodology!
