I would get the palms and oak tree at Home depot. I think they have the best prices and quality (plus they all carry a one-year guarantee). As for rocks/stones, I've used Landscape Depot off of Kingsland near Mason.

One warning about Houston Garden Centers is that ALL SALES ARE FINAL. They won't take back anything even if it dies within a week. It seems all the trees I have bought from them in the past died within 3 months (couple of lime and lemon trees/bushes and sago palms). Also it seems like it is a good deal with the coupons, but actually I found that Home Depot has better prices even without coupons.

+1 more for Home DEPOT. I returned a dead azalea, that was not more than a twig, but I had the original pot, label, and receipt...no questions asked was given a new azalea.

I agree the return policy is great at Home Depot. It is just a matter of how well you take care of your plants and tress.

Default re: permission to plant ....

Check your HOA rules for what's allowed and what's not. If you plan on planting anything taller than your fence or a trunk bigger than 4" you might want to check with them first.
