All,

Next month we'll be moving to Sugar Land. We're deciding on where to rent and wanted to find out, for commuting to MD Anderson from Sugar Land which highways/roads would be better in terms of traffic. Depending on where we end up renting, it seems, we could take 59, 90 or westpark tollway. Wanted your opinion on which ones are less congested during rush hours.

Thanks in advance.

From Sugar Land, 59& 90 work well, but it depends where in Sugar Land you live and at what time, do a search since this question has been covered multiple times.

West Park is a Parking lot at rush hour...It became that way once it opened up past hwy 6. from Hw6 to 59 it is a joke from 7am-8am...

We're thinking of a place by Voss rd on TX-6; google maps shows that we come down on TX-6 to get on US-59, to head to the Medical center area. The map shows it could take upto 45 min in traffic;

Compare that with another apratment (but not as great as the one at Voss Rd) near the intersection of TX-6 and 59.

Between these two locations would there be a major difference in the time sepnt in commuting.

Thanks.

I'd say your AM and PM commute would be worse trying to use the Westpark (and you'd have to pay to boot). This isn't to say that 59 doesn't have its jam ups, but it's relatively mild compared to the Westpark. US 90-A is much better since they've cleared a good amount of the construction that it had been undergoing, although there are sporadic backups around the Beltway and then again the south Loop 610.

the difference between VOSS & 6 and 59 & 6 in rush hour is about 10 additional minutes, if you plan on using 59. Also 59 & 6 is closer to all the the amenities in Sugar Land/first Colony, etc.

When do you plan on leaving?

You might 90A/South Main into town. Get to 610 before, say, 6:30 and it's not so bad. Be warned that the South Main freeway ends at 610, and everybody ends up at a light at the 610 feeder, where it can back up as people are figuring out whether they want to go straight on South Main or go one way or the other on the loop. Thankfully, the light is pretty long and although traffic can back up a good ways, you end up getting out of it a lot faster than you think you would.

Work hours are a bit flexible, and I could start my work at 7; so from what I'm hearing on the forum if I leave at 6, I should get to work on time.
