Saw this article declaring Houston's zip codes the smartest in my news feed. I wasn't particularly surprised that we had well educated areas of town, but it was very surprising to me how much more concentrated people with advanced degrees are in Houston than in other places. Of the 15 most educated zip codes in the state, 10 of them were in Houston. Not only that, but all ten formed one contiguous area -- basically the entire West Loop, south of Allen Parkway and west of Almeda plus the Memorial/Villages area.

Top Zip Codes by Post Graduate Degrees in Texas
1. 77030
2. 77005
3. 77401
5. 77098
6. 77025
10. 77024
12. 77019
13. 77006
14. 77054
15. 77027

77030 is one of the best educated zip codes in the entire country. It's the best educated zip for more than 1000 miles in all directions. It's better educated than the best educated zip codes in San Francisco, Berkeley, and Palo Alto. It's better educated than the best educated zip codes in the entire states of New York and Illinois.

I guess 77030 makes sense since that's where TMC is located at.

Lots of petroleum engineers, medical professionals, and white collar folks in those areas. Not too shocking, though I am surprised that there's not more west Austin and north Dallas ZIPs on this list.

Good stuff

Why would Austin make the list? I feel like Austin retains a lot of people that never grew out of the college life and keep it weird.

What would be interesting is how skewed this is with all the incoming phd's and masters coming from other parts of the world. Versus how much of it is actual locals that are well educated.

UT, besides the professors the rest are just students. Majority being party enthusiasts.
I know people that attended UT, really 50/50.

Never known Austin for a medical center.

Anyhow, cool for Houston.

Those are the zip codes shady roofers, re-modelers, HVAC techs, plumbers, etc can make a lot of money-- as their clients are typically clueless.
