Hey, HTownNearNative quick question to your response on Galena Park and other school districts....are you basing this on elementary, middle school or high school students? i know in NJ men tend to get a higher salary then women in certain districts and wondering if the same applies in Houston area.

I base it on personally knowing teachers that have worked in the district. One worked at Galena Park High School (10-15 yrs ago) and taught for many years until she finally changed districts. One worked at an elementary school in the district most recently. I did not mention anything about salary, much less I have no knowledge of gender discrimination on teacher salaries if any. I do know, that they DO make competitive offers, compared to other districts, to get teachers. Both my friends have mentioned this. The salary offer is the bait. If you have an offer from Clear Creek, I'd go for that instead regardless of salary, unless you are "called" in some way to teach at Galena Park. Huge difference.
