I don’t care what people say. One of the most iconic parts of Houston is the River Oaks Shopping Center where 3 starbucks are located right next to each other. The two that are right in front of each other, and the one in Barnes in Nobles which is right next to the other Starbucks. I guess now with the COVID-19 pandemic, 2 starbucks next to eachother is enough rather than 3.

Also known as the The End of the Universe, a title given by comedian Lewis Black.

Oh God, no. now the coffee fiends will be making illegal U-turns on Gray, trying to get into the remaining drive through line.

I don't care about Starbucks. Houston has the third most Starbucks of all US cities. For all I care it could be 20th. I'm not a Starbucks fan. But the River Oaks Center was famous for having 3 Starbucks next to each other (literally). Now there are only 2.

That is so sad! I am moving back to that area after 8 years in LA. I remember those Starbucks were always doing quite well when I stopped in.

I wonder what led to the decision to open two across from each other? When I worked on Hollywood Blvd, we had 6 different Starbucks within a mile, but none directly near each other.

I'm guessing it was just the lack of available space in the area plus high traffic at the first one.

I preferred the one on the north side of W. Gray since I could never park near the one on the south side.

Oh dear me, the Parallel Universe might collapse now that one of the twin Starbucks at West Grey & Shepard Dr. has closed. But the "strong twin" on the north side of West Grey & Shepard still lives on, and in these Covid times, the drive thru' is packed.

A mere 40 yards to the east is another Starbucks in the Barnes & Noble, and then 200 yards away is another Starbuck in Krogers. But alas, these require the Herlulean effort of parking your car, entering the store, and walking up to an actual counter.

Reminds me of this scene from the movie 'Best in Show'.

There's 7 Starbucks locations in NW Houston, most of which are located along 290. There's really no sense in having 3 Starbucks in close proximity to each other in River Oaks. Two is enough, so I'm glad to see the 3rd one go.

If you count the entire block, there's actually 4. There's one located in Kroger. What's unique about those 3 starbucks is that they're adjacent to each other literally. Not a few businesses dow, but literally right next to each other. Even though I think Starbucks is disgusting, it's was iconic so im upset for its leave.

From a business standpoint, it made no sense to have multiple Starbucks locations on the same block. All of them serve the same items, so was there really any difference between one location and the other? What could you have gotten at one Starbucks location as opposed to others?
