Question Californians relocating to Houston

Lately there has been many Californians relocating to Houston, I would like to know how Houstonians feel about it?

Most of the Californians move into the burbs(towns of Tomball ,The Woodlands,Cypress,Kingwood,Magnolia etc), so most Houstonains don't really know that they're coming here unless they read boards or work in companies with CA transfer employees.

Even if folks noticed, people are moving here from many other places besides California and have been for awhile. I doubt anyone gives much thought to Californians in particular moving here, or cares one way or the other. People are too busy for that. I'm sure you'll be welcomed here, if that's what you're worried about.

Houston has always, (well maybe not always but it seems like it), been a place full of transplants from somewhere else. This is just part of the fabric of the city.

Wherever you move to in the greater Houston area, you will be surrounded by people who moved here at some point from somewhere else. Once in a great while you might actually find a native Houstonian.

I know people from California think they are special but no one is really going to notice one way or the other. I doubt very many people have an opinion one way or the other on people moving here from CA.

Ouch! 'Lil bit harsh modster....maybe the very sentiment the OP was worried about??
There have been many posts about CA transplants, and I can assure you, there is no such thing as a "typical Californian" though stereotypes exist.

....We do not think we are "special" , or special, just some of us are concerned because it seem a few bad apples may have spoiled the bunch,
without out consent, I might add.....

Many posts? Really? Where? I've only noticed a couple of negative posts in this forum about CA transplants.

As far as stereotypes, you can maybe expect some good-natured ribbing by good ol' boy types (*shudder*) when they find out you're from California, if you work, live, or hang around them, but it'll be short-lived and the majority of Houstonians won't care, honestly.

I put a post on here today and i am an ex-California by way of LA. I have lived in North Carolina and South Carolina a long time ago...but looking towards Texas...to be honest even when I was in the Army a long time ago a little "ribbing" that i was from California never bothered me..in fact I now joke about California and i am faraway...Hope to check out Texas next year when I return....thanks to all..
