Newmark Homes
Has anyone heard anything new on the Chapter 11 Newmark filed for? I keep hearing that more and more builders may be filling for Chapter 11.

Talking about Newmark Homes, regardless what their website or sales people say that nothing changes, etc....one of our friend's neighbors did confirm that they are having lots of difficulty trying to get Newmark's contractors to fix their new house.
From what we heard, this friend's neighbor had ignored the rumor and went ahead and bought one of the Newmark homes 2 months ago....what a shame...

Wow...
When we bought in Graystone, I remember Village Builders made the process (mostly) easy to start, but Newmark's was VERY conviluted, and was charging for seemed liked every wire and cable. Seriously, I still have it on file from June 07, 30+ pages for switches, outlets, etc, totally "nickel and diming"
and I remember the agent seeming a little depressed, and obviously feeling pressure from the builder..sad cuz she was very helpful..
Last January or so I was reading JD Powers and Newmark was waaaaay down the list from VB...
I think they have been having problems for some time....just now came to light.

You may want to google the builder's name with words like problems, defects, lawsuits etc. to get more info.
As always go to Homeowners for Better Building and Homeowners Against Deficeint Dwellings to really get the comprehensive information you may want.
Make sure you know what is in your contract and read about TRCC on HOBB.

The official news story of the sale of Newmark to local Houston investors came
out Monday. Here is a link to it:
http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/stories/2009/06/15/daily8.html
Bottom line: it's good news, Newmark is not dead in Houston (although it may be
in other Texas cities). The Newmark name will be carried on here.
