Maybe there's a "broken record" filter installed in this board software to not allow reps to/from anyone who bashes The Woodlands.

OK, I guess we will NOT move to the Woodlands but more questions
You guys are killing me. I am sitting here in Lake Forest cracking up. OK, we will NOT do the Woodlands although we have really good friends that live in Carlton Woods that CLAIM most of the people that live there commute 5 days a week to downtown. My husband loves the thought of a country club lifestyle. He is a golf addict and claims the commute won't kill him. I think otherwise because he will never be able to get home in enough time for soccer, baseball, basketball games, etc. I think we will move to Tanglewood or Memorial. I like the thought of public schools, we do public now, so I am leaning toward Memorial. Our kids are 7 and 9 and we like a community feel and being with families that have similar values, most kids go to public school, etc. Do most people go to public that live in Memorial? Are there alot of young families there? Also, I called both Kincaid and St. John and enrollment is Totally full for next year so we are looking at Presbyterian. Any thoughts?

Ages 7 & 9 you could probably get into St. Francis Day School, St. Cecilia's or St. Michael's. However, placements are usually filled this time of year. A lot of people go to private in Memorial because they can afford it. This helps keep the class numbers small and the quality of education good.
As far as club life, Lakeside Country Club is taking in new members. It's private and exclusive, and you need recommendations, but you don't have to be native Houstonian to get in. The Houstonian has a course outside of town that comes with athletic membership. It's pricie, but not exclusive. Lots of semi-private courses within an easy drive of Memorial though.
If you have a price range I can suggest a Memorial neighborhood that would fit the bill.

Price Range
We would like to spend no more than 2 mill. We live in a pricey neighborhood now and will sell our house around the same or a little less. My husband is shocked we will have to spend as much in Houston. I have looked at Bunker Hill, Piney Point, and one other one online. Is there a preferred village? If so, which one and why?

I would say Piney Point. It's just the most exclusive of the 3 main villages. No apartment complexes within its boundaries. It's also zoned to Memorial Elementary which has only 450 kids. It's extremely nice. The neighborhood is very comfortable with themselves, if you know what I mean.
Bunker Hill is a little farther west and has more cut through traffic. However, Lakeview and Sandalwood are great neighborhoods. Bunker Hill Elementary is very good, however it does service some apartments.
Hunter Creek's elementary is completely overcrowded. Large apartment areas zoned to them as well. Good school, but it's bursting at the seams.
And yes, Houston is like Chicago now. "The neighborhoods" in the location areas are just as high as LA, Chicago and almost Manhattan.
Drive time to Houston CC and Lakeside CC would be less than 15 minutes for golf for the hubsters.

I like Piney Point too, except isn't part of it zoned to HISD instead of SBISD? My vote is for Bunker Hill Village....but I am more of a sugar land guy
Also before dropping $2m, have you looked at the taxes? i would guess you are looking close to $30,000 in taxes/yr?
