It’s like open season out here smh. These judges have given criminals carte blanche. Where else can you commit a murder, get out on a low bond, and wait 4-5 years for a trial. You can violate the conditions of your bond and still get another extremely low bond lol. This is getting ridiculous.

Can you point to statistics that the crime rate in Houston is significantly worse than other major cities?

I have seen statistics that we have high property crime rates and our human trafficking problem is completely out of control. Weve shoehorned ourselves to be the human trafficking capital of the country by total cases.

But as far as murder, we dont really stand out among major cities.

This was just yesterday... there’s plenty more that you can pull up on the crime blotter. This seems to be an everyday occurrence.

“Blah, blah, blah.. every big city”... I’m talking about Houston and Lately it has gotten out of control. WTH even the out going police chief said we’ll hit 500 homicides this year. Keep in mind we’re just talking about this city, don’t get me started on the surrounding counties who don’t report their crime to Houston

"Screw statistics and facts, Im going on an emotional rant".

Thats all I see here.

Show Houston's rate relative to other cities or just admit its a rant. One murder is too many, but out of control? Not relative to other cities (at least yet).

From January to May of this year we’ve had 150 murders in the city limits, That’s over a 85% increase from 2019. How’s them apples? I can only do so much on a iPhone

The number was 146.

So lets use that then. In a 4 month time period, we had 146 murders. Youd need to multiply that by 3 to get the projected total for the year. That would be 438. In 2020, there were 404 murders in Houston. That would put our murder rate at 19.0 per 100,000.

Yes thats higher than what wed like as any person who loses their life unnecessarily is a tragedy, but we can do without the drama.

Local police departments for their murder totals for the year 2020.

You take the number of murders and divide them by the population. Then you multiply by 100,000.
