Default enclosed patio/outdoor kitchen--pros and cons? (climate Q)

Hi everyone,

Just returned from a househunting trip. Love Houston.

We've found a couple houses we like. One has a completely enclosed patio. I imagine at one time it was a covered patio and the owners completely walled it up and added windows and a window-AC unit. The patio has a complete kitchen (gas stove top unit and a grill.

This may sound like a silly question, but what are the pros and cons of this. I find it a detractor, as I like to be outside as much as possible when the weather allows it. I am also wondering about ventilation during cooking/grilling.

I am wondering what the pros and cons of this is from the perspective of folks living in Houston and used to the weather. Love everything else about the house. Could it be converted back easily?

Thanks!

Personally I would prefer open or screened. For at least 6 months out of the year you can really enjoy an outdoor space.

Well... on the "pro" side of things... It gets REALLY hot and uncomfortable outside in the summer here. I wouldn't do it, but I can see why someone might prefer not sweating their *** off while doing BBQ in July / August.
