I'm still shocked that Houston doesn't have a Ritz. Rosewood is coming though.

Look what I found from the Ion District. This is why you wanted your tech district in the city. Very ambitious

I agree, and it's at such a key location - where the Montrose corridor meets the Buffalo Bayou corridor, the latter of which has been emerging as such a core element of Houston's appeal, both for the park space and the new developments happening along it. Montrose goes straight down to the Museum District and TMC.

CityCentre is emerging as an IT district itself too. Amazon is expanding their campus, Infosys is moving in. Cart.com revealed they will plant their headquarters there. Microsoft is technically not within the CityCentre but it’s just adjacent. Perhaps CityCentre Seven breaks ground soon.

This is why I group the POST as one of those occasional projects that are game changers for the reason. The Shops at Houston Center are planning to remodel.

It will be known as “The Highlight”

Projects of this scale force adjacent developments to improve to compete. Take for example when the River Oaks District opened and the Galleria improved its luxury wing and the Saks Fifth Ave relocated to a new facility (one of the best Saks in the country now). Luxury brands started entering Houston left and right.

The POST already had nearby projects like the Theatre District have been improving already but when smaller projects like Houston Center do as well, these are good signs for things to come.

New set of tenants recently announced for ROD

The highlights are

- Zimmerman - this was actually announced just before COVID but no updates after that so I figured it got canceled due to the pandemic. But they finally detailed their comeback plans. This one will go up in the former Akris (which moved to the Galleria recently)

- Rolex - A rolex boutique in the Galleria would be lit! Will be nice to see how this one spans out. I wonder if the Rolex at the Galleria will remain open.

- YellowKorner - surprised they chose Houston as their entry. Austin would sound more suitable since they’re more of a film/photography town. To put into perspective, Santa Fe which has an acclaimed film industry has a location. Regardless, this brings another exclusive aspect to the district

Also in relation to this post In nearby Highland Village, the new YETI store opened. RTIC used to lobby against them coming to Houston but now that RTIC has a new owner they probably aren’t doing that anymore.

Wasn't sure if I should post this here or in Jack's thread since it sort of fits both bills but here it is. Intuitive Machines adding to the Spaceport. They're definitely one of the most underrated Aerospace companies here. The new facility plans 100 jobs in addition to the 150 they currently have in their current office.

I wonder if bringing many of the aerospace companies together in one general area creates some sort of synergy for the industry. Would be cool to see the Boeing Co move their Houston campus there and KBR.

PS, SouthernBoy I saw somewhere that you made this thread a decade ago and I stole it so... my bad.

Major lift of road, bike lanes and sidewalks coming to Montrose. Starting Shepherd and Durham project that just broke ground. And the W Alabama that will follow.
