I'm relocating to the Westchase neighborhood. I was wondering if Celebration at Westchase is a safe place to live. Its in the 77042 area code and about .4 miles from my new job. I am fresh out of college and have a minimal budget. Please respond and help me out.

Thanks, if anyone can help I would I like to know if the Complex is safe or anything about the crime in the neighborhood. I looked at the crime map and it looks like certain apartments are bad and some good. the complex is at 2828 walnut bend. Any info would help.

ummm, I wouldn't live in that area, it's "ok." Go farther west to Eldridge, or east to Gesner.

I agree about going further west to Eldridge. That area has a very "neighborhoody" and residential feel to it. Also, there are plenty of retail amenities such as a big Kroger store, LA Fitness, dry cleaners and a number of interesting eating options. Also, it has easy access to I-10 and fairly easy access to the Westpark Tollway. That would be my first choice of a location.

You've got some more options than someone on a minimal budget.

On a minimal budget, "ok" is as good as it gets.

Oaks of Westchase is a complex that continues to get decent reviews. Worth checking out. It is one street over from Celebration at Westchase.

Five minutes east from Oaks of Westchase (5 minutes east of Beltway 8) is the Quadrangle of Woodlake. On Gessner just north of Westheimer. It's been very well managed. I do not recommend any complex that surrounds it though. These have consistently had horrible reviews in apartmentratings dot com especially when it comes to very bad maintenance, unresponsiveness to requests, etc. The only other place in the area worth checking are the condos (individually owned) at Oaks of Woodlake 2100 Tanglewilde. The gate attendant keeps a list of properties for rent and for sale and you just need to drive to the gate and request a list. It gets updated frequently. These tend to be better maintained but depends on individual landlord/or realtor if managed by realtor.

Once you sign any lease, first check the apartment thoroughly and make note of any flaws you find so they have this on their records (that it was not caused by you). This is for your protection because once you move out, if they see any damage, they will count it against you. Also, turn in your maintenance requests in writing and keep a copy for your records. This protects you as well.

Good luck!

Are ya blind? I did. Sorry I don't quote specific apartment, just areas.
Westchase is cracking down on problem like you article said. But most of the baddies live around Westchase, not in it.
