According to that list, Houston would be No. 4 in Florida if it was located in Florida (behind Miami, Tampa and Orlando).
Note that the picture they show of Houston is way north on 45 (near Greenspoint) heading toward The Woodlands, ~20 miles north of the city center. Getting around inside 610 is not all that hard, and if there's construction or some other kind of problem you've got lots of alternatives. Not to mention it's the part of the city best served by public transit.

I love the back roads that we have inside the Beltway. It's not hard at all to find an alternative route if you know Houston well.
Jfre- I think the bus transit is pretty good inside the Beltway, not just to loop. You have lots of "Express" type buses that jump big portion of the city to get you to certain parts of town.

Not to mention another city in Texas (Dallas) is ranked even worse.

The (London) congestion charge would go down well in Houston, especially as there is a lack of public transport.

Our public transport system is good but not safe. Muggings, knifings etc. Our new Mayor is trying to ban alcohol on public transport. i'm Just waiting to see how many people will be stabbed , or beaten up, trying to tell some rowdy youths to stop drinking on the train, bus etc.

True, but from what I remember Paris was much worse than London could ever be. Have things changed?

I was in Paris last spring and i it was fine. I do get confused on their metro but it didn't seem as dangerous as London. The people were very friendly and the food amazing. London has changed for the worse in a very short time.
