Looking to move to a master planned community called Woodforest. Very close to Conroe and The Woodlands. I drove around the community a couple of times but it was hard to get a good sense of demographics. We are a mixed raced family, kids are mixed race. Sales rep of the new construction mentioned a bit more diversity in the last couple of years. Curious if others have feedback. Loved the area, everyone was friendly and warm, but wondering if my kids will feel like they stick out. School district would be Conroe ISD. Thank you!

A few months ago I stopped at Harvest Woodforest
I remember thinking that that place was very white

Not saying is not diverse (many ways to define it) just sharing my observations

Anywhere you go, if you buy a house “out in the country”
Very likely is not going to be diverse

junior high is Oak Hills (77% white, 16% hispanic, 2.4% black, 1% asian)

Thanks, I actually toured this house last weekend! Those schools are in Montgomery ISD. Apparently, the new construction in Woodforest is zoned to the Conroe ISD. I will compare stats but I think Conroe ISD might be a bit more diverse, but I need to double check.

I'm a minority in a suburban area that isn't very diverse at all. In the suburbs people don't care. It's mostly if you are moving to a tiny rural town with no minorities that you may get stares, and even then it just depends. Long ago Conroe had a reputation, but that's several decades back. I'm considering moving to that area (Woodlands/Conroe/Huntsville) to get away from hurricane evacuations. It's growing fast and is constantly changing.

Thank you for that input. Woodforest is about 10,000 people and fairly close to The Woodlands - which I think has even more diversity than Woodforest subdivision. As you note, it is growing very fast in that area.

You won't get any "stares"

The Woodlands kids might indeed grow up in a bubble....but they have seen black people before. LOL

Those areas ARE less diverse than Katy, Cypress, Sugarland or other Houston burbs....just know that going in.

Texas gets more like the movies Sling Blade or The Deliverance the further east you go from I-45....just keep that in mind.

For the OP, that's the question
Where does Houston end and East Texas begin ... and believe me ... Woodforest is very close to what I would call "The end of Houston and the beginning of East Texas"

Okay, all great insights. Thank you. What are your thoughts on suburbs of Dallas? Any different? I'm hoping to make a trip out there too.

I've always preferred Houston over Dallas. The Dallas area is mile after mile of cookie cutter suburbs, and seem to be a very plastic kind of environment. But, that's just my view.
