I am so excited to go house hunting. I have heard many good things about Houston being very family oriented, and now with the affordability factor, this is excellent. Wow.

Let's say we move to Sugar Land. How long does it take to drive downtown? To the coast? Just curious.

I wouldn't have the furniture to to fill the house, but I guess with the affordable prices I can buy more ha ha.
No sewage dump Houston neighborhoods with homes in that price range are NICE. Just remember the property taxes....

if there is no traffic, then it will take 20-25 minutes! Depending where you are coming from. Rush hour can take anywhere between 35-55 minutes.

To Galveston, about 1 hour and 15-20 minutes. (Google MAPS)

Also, when I try to look on realtor.com (for example) for houses in these areas, I can't seem to enter in these neighborhoods. Is there a good realk estate web site where you can put in the individual neighborhoods and search that way?

Thanks!
You can search individual neighborhoods on HAR.com

We are also moving from Chicago--and we were blown away by prices, too! We just bought a house in Katy (Cinco Ranch) and will be moving in July. G/L with your search!
