Hello everyone,
Me and my family are moving to Katy in September. How big of a difference is the weather? I hear it's alot more humid. How many months of the year do people tend to just stay inside. We have four children, so outdoor life is important, Thank you

Its pretty harsh outside from mid June - early September. Might be cold for a couple weeks in Jan. and Feb. Rest of the time is great for outdoors.

I am originally from Southern Cali and I moved here in '94. It took me 3 years to adjust to the weather! LOL! It's tough at first...really. It's the humidity that is the biggest change. At first, you may feel like you need a shower after being outside for 10 minutes. But you will get used to it...

From what I understand, Sac and Houston's temps throughout the year are fairly similar. 62/42 in the winter, 95/75 in the summer on average. Add or subtract up to 10 degrees for the usual extremes.

The big difference will be the humidity.

Sounds about right on your temperature variances.

I only needed a shower every two days in CA. Here I have to take a shower everyday, at least in the summer.

Houston is hot and humid, to be sure, but the golf courses never get any less crowded, the construction crews never stop working, the jogging trails are always full, etc. etc. You don't see very many people having a mid-day picnic in the park in August, but for the most part the wheels never stop. If you were moving in from Minnesota you would probably be endlessly impressed that the locals are actually able to breathe here, but if you've ever been to LA in the summer you shouldn't be too shocked.

Smile Heat

Well I grew up in South Texas. A little town south of San Antonio. South Texas can be very humid. The heat isnt to the point that you can't come outside but it will take a while to get used to. I am sure you will be fine. I live in the Oceanside area at the moment and I love that weather. I love California's weather way better than Texas but I still love to go home to Texa.
