Default Volunteer or Paid on Call Fire Department

I am moving to the Houston area from Michigan where I hold an EMT Specialist license and a Firefighter license. I have worked as a paid on call firefighter for the past five years and would like to continue in Texas. Does anyone know areas that have such fire departments? I was thinking about maybe the Clear Lake City, Seabrook, Nassau Bay, Clear Lake Shores, and Taylor Lake Villiage areas? Also, does anyone know what the requirements will be for someone who holds licenses from another state (whether I have to repeat classes or if I can simply "test" out)?

Not sure of the requirements. Yes, there are such positions available here with the larger VFDs. Some that come to mind (not a complete list) are Friendswood, Pasadena, Cy-Fair, Cy-Creek, Ponderosa, Sheldon (iffy), LaPorte, and Spring. Clear Lake is part of Houston and served by the Houston FD. I believe the LaPorte regulars are actually city employees supplemented by volunteers but I'm not absolutely sure of that one. The other areas you mentioned are small and have limited organizations. Other side of town, but the new Cy-Creek training facility is absolutely the tops for a VFD. You can get a list of VFD's from the Harris County Fire Marshall's office. I'm not sure which ones have paid duty people other than those I've listed.
