ok Flash. I found 5 houses ready to offer today. Ok 5 houses this morning I loved/liked got contracts. Crap now back to square one. Hope someone lists a 2400 sq ft single level with pool with no power lines in sight. I fly home to Mexicaliforina tomorrow with no house after one week looking and 4 days wasting time with an inept realtor. Yep I found a good one but she can't produce a house that does not exist. At least I got to spend 100 bucks in gas, 200 in food, 700 in hotel to see that nothing exists that I want. whoops forgot the 400 in airfare. I will wait now to see if I get a job with 2 interviews I did. Maybe that was a sign, no job should not buy house. Hum perhaps Austin....
I am so so upset and disappointed I could just cry.

Just a heads up Try priceline.com next time, Get a list of some bargain restaurants in your area off this board , and make sure you get a Realtor that will pick you up at the hotel and drop you off after looking at homes( It's a buyer's market) Don't settle for less than what you want.

What do you mean that the houses "got contracts?" You mean that all 5 houses were available this morning and by the time you were ready to make an offer, someone else already put them under contract? That is hard to believe in this supposed buyer's market.
Austin is more expensive than Houston, by the way, with less inventory. Also fewer jobs. Fun city, though.

If you visit Long Meadow Farms you should stop by Fieldstone it is right on the other side of Grand Parkway.

They're located just past The Oyster creek bridge and it's a very beautiful area with Tall mature Oak trees, river creeks and walking trials ect.... The developer did a very nice job leaving the natural beauty there and building around it.
The Builders in that section is Aston Woods, J Patrick and Village and The price should fit your range, also remember this is a buyers market so be patient and let them chase after you with some deals

5 houses you liked got a contract by that afternoon? In Katy??? Seems odd since there's always the same house plan in production somewhere.
Gone in one day is not uncommon in Houston, but five at once in one day? Dang, it takes me over 6 months of looking to find THE ONE house/location/price combination I want.

I was surprised to hear this happened to her in Katy. I could see the quick contracts happening in the close in areas in Houston, but I would have thought she would have more time in the suburbs. Even where I live in New Territory east of 99 where houses sell fairly quickly because people want to get their children into the elementary school, buyers get more time than a single day.

Topaz, the only thing I can think is that a pool in the 300k range might make them go fast. Pool prices are outrageous lately. Just to update my EC area pool, the bids came in just under 30k. If I wanted to add a sunledge and a water fall wall I was get up near 40k. With a hot tub and all that, over 50. Who would think the economy is bad? 10 years ago I resurfaced, coped and tiled my Tanglewood pool--- 7,500. Now no one will come out for less than 20k. Crazy. Of course in the old days they built huge pools, so I'm having to resurface a lot.
Also, second. Corporate housing hotels are totally booked around the west side right now. I think all the transfers waited untill school was out to get down here to shop.
Third. The Energy Corridor is on fire with an influx of population. The traffic in the area has doubled in the past few months.
But still......there is a glut of suburban housing out there.....so I still find this amazing.
