Who would think the economy is bad? 10 years ago I resurfaced, coped and tiled my Tanglewood pool--- 7,500. Now no one will come out for less than 20k. Crazy. Of course in the old days they built huge pools, so I'm having to resurface a lot.
Also, second. Corporate housing hotels are totally booked around the west side right now. I think all the transfers waited untill school was out to get down here to shop.
Third. The Energy Corridor is on fire with an influx of population. The traffic in the area has doubled in the past few months.
But still......there is a glut of suburban housing out there.....so I still find this amazing.

Those reasons make sense. It kind of sucks because one of the big advantages to going out to the burbs is you are supposed to be able to buy a house with less stress!

Anywho, I don't know what's wrong with this one, but it would cost over 700k in my area.
1923 Hollow Wind Dr, Katy, TX 77450

Just to complicate things, if BEVH is working at Hwy 6 & 59, has no kids and doesn't worry about school districts, and wants to be close to great shopping and restaurants, why limit yourself to Katy?
Why not look at an older area like Briarmeadow? Maybe Walnut Bend? These would get you closer to the Galleria and all the restaurants along Westheimer. When I think of great restaurants and great shopping, Katy isn't exactly the first place that comes to mind, sorry. Good schools, big new two-story houses, yeah, it's great for that.
Both Briarmeadow & Walnut Bend would provide easy access to 59/6 while being more connected to the city and the amenities it provides. These neighborhoods are also predominantly one story homes.

Well, for the little I know about Katy, that's a great location for Katy.

Sounds about right then. The pricing is similar to the cheapest/smallest house in Clear Lake's best neighborhood.

Suburbs = lower prices, that's why some of move out there, I guess.
Kelliwood is a nice area in Katy - I actually think 299K for a 2500 s.f. house to be quite expensive for Katy, unless it is a custom built home. Average new construction in Cinco Ranch and the like is in the neighborhood of $100/s.f, more or less.
