Cool Where the best place to live in Houston

Hi all,

I was born and raised in the city of Detroit as a young woman I now live downtown Detroit, so I'm use to the big city urban setting of things. Where is the best place to live in Houston?

I hear the galleria but I would like some other options to look at. I have no kids just a small dog so what do you think would be a great setting for a young woman 29 years of age with no kids and just a dog.

I love the downtown feel of things here in Detrot I'm always close to what ever is going on, but I'm not sure what downtown houston life would be like. So please any and all suggestions would be great!

Thanks
Mscarmel ~ Detroit

Downtown, Midtown, Montrose, Heights, Rice Village, Galleria area - all would be good locations for singles.

The best place in Houston is, hands down, the Rice University/Museum/West University area.

I'm just adding my support for the areas listed above.

I would move to the Heights or the Museum District in a heartbeat if we could find something that fit our current budget and size requirements. Even if it meant my husband still had to drive 30 miles to work.

I grew up in West U and lived near the Galleria for years, and it was great.

Wonderful! I've been looking into all of those areas and I'm loving what I've seen so far. Can't wait to come down and visit this month.

Default where

This is a sprawled out town. It would depend of where you work as to what that answer is. With gas prices, you want to travel ANY freeway as little as possible. It's a very gnarly traffic town.
