Are they inexpensive for a reason? Mapquest says that they are only about 20 minutes away from where I will be working in Katy. Is that an accurate time and is this area any more appropriate for singles than Katy in terms of nightlife/social scene?
Would you recommend apartments on Barker-Cypress Rd? Sorry for all of the questions
Thanks

1) Brant Rock is in Alief. An area that is not convenient to the major employment centers in Houston (downtown/Galleria/Greenway Plaza), but it would be convenient to your work since you'd be commuting against traffic. Alief is not exactly one of the best areas of town either. Yes, it is cheap for a reason.
2) In terms of singles, Alief is just another family neighborhood area. Singles often live much closer to town like the Galleria area near 610 loop (Westheimer/San Felipe), or inside 610 loop (West University, Museum District, Montrose).
3) Not familiar enough with apartments on Barker-Cypress these days. You're probably better off living in Katy if you work in Katy. You can always drive to town on weekends.
