One last location I need to know about: I really like the place located at: McGowen St at Baldwin St, these are Townhomes in this area... Is this a good spot to be in?

a few more areas:
(1) Huldy at shepherd and Vermont -
(2) Morgan Street at Welch-
(3) Bagby at Gray-
|
(1) -near river oaks shopping center! Theater cafes shopping- Probably within walking-nice area
(2) -surprisingly quiet but still very much in the city!
(3) Bagby at Gray-newer and pricey above areas are close to it too,
Has a nice urban feel to it..is growing.
Mcgowen and baldwin also...nice choice too
These areas are all awesome-inner loop and sweet.
check oodle and craigslist too, you never know!

Those blocks in Midtown are not big and they're easy to get around on foot. Seven blocks down McGowen (a half-mile or so) is the McGowen light rail station; the westbound 82 Westheimer bus comes down Smith three blocks east of Baldwin.
The 82 Westheimer line westbound will take you out of Midtown through Montrose, Upper Kirby, River Oaks (sort of), Uptown (Galleria), and Westchase all the way to Highway 6 on the far western fringe of the city limits. Eastbound, which comes up a block further on Louisiana - these are one-way roads - will take you into downtown into the core of the business district, through Main Street Square to a block south of Minute Maid Park before looping back around to follow (for the most part) the same path westward. Most buses in Houston run every 15-20 minutes or so during the day but the 82 is more like 8-12 minutes in the daytime. It can be crowded, but it's cheap and covers a lot of ground.
Off S. Shepherd/West Gray you are indeed close to the River Oaks shopping center, lots of trees, quiet backroads. Walking isn't a problem.

I would not suggest to take the bus from Midtown to work in Westchase/Rodgerdale unless you have at least an hour to spare. Driving would be faster as this bus route stops frequently all the way through town. Check out the bus schedules for weekday westbound for example.

ridemetro.org has information on all the routes in the Houston area (Harris county).

What are the maintenance fees like?
If they're pretty new and they're high, you might stay away. They're not going to go down as the building(s) get older. Otherwise, that doesn't sound unreasonable for that part of town.
