Default Need Answers on 2 topics Power Lines and Patio Homes Katy Sugar Land areas

Every home I sort of like has those ugly wood power lines behind and visible from the property. Is that something that only concerns me? I have never seen areas with that many power poles in my life and the metal ones oh my gosh.

Here in CA we have to disclose "Electro Magnetic Fields" adjacent to home which means back off quickly.

Why does no one seem to care about this in the area. I would think it would cause loss of value, slow down the sale of the home but it does not seem to matter.

Also I liked the Patio Homes at Telfair but the freeway noise was unbelievable. Is there anywhere else Patio homes are being built (not adjacent to electro magnetic fields or freeway noise.

Will be returning to look again and just need advice. Again, working at 59 and highway 6 areas.

Power Lines and Road noise...some of the "perks" of location. However, from inside the home, it is fairly quiet. I believe as they build out, they will have the tall barriers built to block the road noise. Power lines, they are where they are...

We fell in love with a custom home in Telfair, but it actually had a power line right in the back yard!!! Guess what, that home is still for sale! If it did not have that line, this might have been our new house. Did they not think about this before building the home? or why didn't the developer restructure the lot?

This is the Home:

If you want power in the Houston area, 9 X out of 10 you will have a power line in your yard. Few areas have buried power cables. If you are talking about one of the big trunk lines and what I call "power towers"...well those are located adjacent to valuable real estate too and cannot be buried. The California disclosure law probably stems from when they were having all those scares about high power lines and electromagnetic fields. Those scares have never been proven. Right now it is all a matter of aesthetics.

I have a power pole like the one above in my yard and never really notice it except when Centerpoint insists on squishing my plants to do maintenance. This has only occurred once in the last 4 years right after hurricane Rita.

Thanks. Just running scared because out here in CA a house may never sell if a power pole is within eye site. We even have to disclose if planes might fly overhead or get this a street behind the house. Surely you would think someone could see a street but there have been so many law suits about there is noisy street and it disturbs my peace and quiet. We even have to disclose if we have a neighborhood nuisance. That means a house that plays music too loud etc.

I know I live in the land of fruits and nuts but frankly some of the disclosures do work out here. I just can't bring myself to buying a house with a dang power pole or noisy street nearby. I have lost several nice dream homes due to this but it is a matter of i think I will get cancer because it is drilled in us out here.

I understand in one community in CA central valley has tons of those metal power line things towers??? There is an incredible high incidence of childhood leukemia in that area too. So do they are don't they I am not inclined to take a chance. I bet I am not alone either per the person wanting to buy in Telfair. I wanted a patio home in Telfair until I heard the freeway and can't belive that noise level.

Lots of nice patio homes in Kingwood with trees and no power lines, maybe this is a sign you were supposed to move to Kingwood after all.

A few examples:

25416 Williams Creek Ct

25508 Polaris Creek Dr

21086 Williams Creek Dr, Kingwood, TX 77365

In more established neighborhoods you don't even notice the poles because of the dense treelines. If you have anything over 1/2 acre in Houston, you gonna have at least one, and sometimes two.

IModerator cut: orphanedI would rather not have noise or poles. I want a place where I can have peace and quiet and not listen to the lines sizzle at night and not be living close to anyone with RedStipes attitude. I will keep on searching.

Yep if Kingwood was not a 2 hour commute to Sugar Land, I would be there in a minute. Is it 100% absolutely positive that Kingwood is a 2 hour commute.

Google Maps says 45 miles, 55-80 minutes depending on traffic. You could suffer the commute for awhile and then negotiate a 4 day work week after your employer decides you are valuable. That would leave you 3 days per week to live exactly where you want with no commute on those days.

Ok with gas at 4.63 here in ca for regular (is it that high in Houston)? I doubt I would want to spend nearly 20 bucks on gas a day.

I guess I should just consider Sugar Land. I had the worlds worst realtor (and trust me she was reall really bad) when I saw Sugar Land so i gave up on it and found a great gal in Katy who convinced me Katy was Heaven. I did not know there was a historic part of Sugar Land. I am an antiques nut case and think that would be great if it is safe. Sorry I went off on the other person about crosses but I am at popping stress point and just not willing to put up with "stuff"

Thanks for looking these up for me. I will consider but I do need a question answered.

I looked in Greatwood and loved it but I saw a 2 story home with pool which I need/want/must have/desire/can't live without/need for exercise (get the point, I want a pool) and she said it cost 750 per mo airand pool costs (electric) Is that true 750 per month for a 2 story home. YIkes I will need a second job to pay the utilities and gas.
