Default Bolivar Ferry wait times in June

We've rented a beach house on Crystal Beach next week, driving down Sunday. We plan on making a few trips back to Galveston island during the week. I've read a lot about how long the waits are for the Bolivar Ferry. When are the best times to ride and avoid the wait? How long a wait should I expect? Thanks, Chris in Austin

On Friday afternoons and weekends expect a long, hot wait ... it could easily be 1 1/2 hours. Maybe you will be pleasantly surprised, but prepare for the worst and bring something to drink. During the week, typically not as bad. I ride my bike down Ferry Rd. sometimes on weekday afternoons and there is not a single car in line. During week days I would expect it to be pretty slow.
