We are looking for the following:
less than 45 minutes to the medical district
EXCELLENT school system
affluent area
access to Woodlands amenities
New homes
Taxes under 3.0
Very safe / low crime

Is the Woodlands the best place for us or is there somewhere else we should consider?

Creekside Park, Augusta Pines, The Falls at Champion Forest, Vintage Lakes, Champion Lakes Estates, Champion Woods, Champion Forest, Gleannloch Farms, Windrose.
these are just a few neighborhoods match your criteria are looking for except for the tax rate. They vary from location to location

Thank you for your help and yes I did mean 3.0 of assessed value. Isn't Creekside Park part of the Woodlands and I was told their property tax was 3.45 or something in that neighborhood?

When we drove through Spring on the main road (don't remember the name of it), it didn't look like a great area. There were trailer parks, it wasn't pretty - we even saw some K Hovnanian homes for $80k that looked like little cheap boxes. Is this not the proper representation of Spring?

Thx

Maybe your speaking of Gosling road which does have unrestricted areas and trailers etc. Creekside park and Augusta Pines are very nice area toward The Woodlands between Gosling and Kuykendahl, Creekside Park is about 5 miles from The Woodlands Parkway and that end of Gosling is much nicer. Creekside Park is The Woodlands latest community but is located in Harris County and zoned to Tomball schools, tax rate is higher then being in Montgomery County which is where the rest of The Woodlands is. Creekside Park will be its own little city, complete with its own schools, YMCA, Splashpad, park, Concert area, stores, banks, natire preserve etc.

Nothing up there is within 45 minutes of the Texas Medical Center. An hour and 15 minutes would be more like it.

This may be exaggerating it just a bit; My sister in law lives here by Lake Conroe and usually makes it to the Med Center in an hour and fifteen and it takes 20 min to get to the Woodlands. IMO you could make it to the med center from the Woodlands BEST CASE scenario 45 min and that's if you lived at the front of the Woodlands, norm would be about an hour and problems would be hour and fifteen +, this is if you live in the front of The Woodlands, if you live back in Sterling Ridge add 20 min to these times.

Are you aware their are hospitals in and near The Woodlands? Memorial Hermann and St. Luke's are part of the Texas Medical Center and also have satellite hospitals in The Woodlands.

Concert area? That is a new plan to me. Maybe concerts in the park?
Keep in mind that the schools system is not separate from Tomball. Although I like the Tomball district, the new village will not have a high school of its own and may not have a middle school of its own. It has to be viewed and an area wide school system just like any other community.

The area around the new village will be growing at a fast pace, stimulated by the development of Creekside. Already there is a new church and new strip center being built on Gosling. Land is for sale all around the area. The new shopping center for the village will take a while before it comes to be. That will be located close to Kuykendahl.

Honestly, I could think of nothing worse than being a medical professional in TMC, put in a long, stressful and grewling day and then have to make that drive just to get to your bed.
