Good single family communities in East Houston --Baytown, Channel view, Lynchburg ?
I just noticed from map that in East Houston, like Baytown, Channel view, lynchburg area, they are close to the real beach. Just wondering if in there are any good single family communities with great beach views e.g., and also good schools. Somehow I got the feeling that East Houston is not great for living, with the refinaries etc. and more of an industrial setting. It is not up to the same level as Katy, Sugerland, Woodlands, clear lake area ? But I am wondering with beach view on the real sea shore, there got to be some high end good communities in that area ? I never been there, but planning to visit some day, just don't know which communities (with new development) to visit to, if there are any ?
Thanks,
Joe W.

That is Galveston Bay...not really an ocean view and no real beaches. If you want a nice Bay view though try Morgan's Point, the houses along Tri-city Beaches Rd (south of Baytown), LaPorte along Sylvan Beach, Seabrook, and Kemah. If you want to be near the Bay any of the above plus Deer Park, Clear Lake, and League City may be good.

The Mont Belvieu area has a great school district and an area called Beach City is near by down FM 2354 there is actually a brand new gated subdivision there.

And that's about the only thing Beach City has, too.

Parts of it flood due to storm surge during hurricanes, but the residential area actually sits up pretty high. Wouldn't have given it a chance if Ike had gone in on the west end of Galveston though. It was also pretty bad during Alicia.

Some of Beach City is in the Barbers Hill School district; some of it is in the Goose Creek (Baytown) school district.
