Last week my five year old wanted to know where "all the brown people are". It's been a big adjustment for him moving from an all black neighborhood up north.

Like I said, the majority of my neighbors seem ok. I thought my next door neighbors were fine with us until one of them became intoxicated at a neighborhood bbq and oh, how the truth came out. It didn't bother me as much as it embarrassed my other neighbors.

We no longer attend such bbqs, but we don't dwell on it either. It is what it is.
Don't write off the other people - they could have just been horrified and not known what to say.

I absolutely agree, Cheryjohns. I would hate for people to judge me solely based upon his or her bad experiences with people who look like me. The vast majority of my neighbors are really sweet people and my boys call my next door neighbor "Nana". My 21 month old knows nothing of color; all he knows is that Nana gives great kisses and feeds him cookies all day long

There's the spirit! I've been thinking about your earlier post throughout the day (yeah...get a life, right?). I'm glad to see that the one bad, boorish apple didn't sour you on your entire neighborhood.

Are you ready to mingle?

We should mingle more, seriously. Just because there are no blacks in a subdivision in The Woodlands or Katy, doesn't mean that it's not for us. Break the lack of diversity and be a trend for other blacks, IMO.

I don't think any sane person would like to be around ghetto folks like you hahaha, I personally despise them, its a good thing most of them end up in jail anyway, and I'm talking about ghetto folks of every color.

I would say that one of the best things about Houston is it's diversity in people from all walks of life. I think most people here choose to live in the area of Houston that they can both afford and enjoy the best they can...good luck in finding the area you're searching for...
