Default Meyerland/Maplewood North Area

Hi! We're relocating to Houston this summer and you've all been very helpful so far - thanks! We've narrowed in on the Meyerland/Maplewood North area and are interested in any information that could be helpful. The commute to downtown seems good and so do the schools. The community looks great but it's so hard to tell on the quick drives you take with realtors. Also, if anyone has information about preschools in the area that would be great too. Thanks in advance!

Westbury Methodist Day School is your new friend. It's a certified preschool and a member of the elite group of private schools. Hurry and get on the wait list.

I loved the Maplewood West subdivision, I stayed there for 10 years. And you can use the Vanguard schools of HISD

I used to live in nearby Willow Meadows and can vouch for the area. Both Maplewood and Meyerland are well-maintained, have strong civic associations, and homes hold their values very well. You might also check out Willow Meadows, Marilyn Estates and Maplewood North, in the same general area.

What do you all think about Post Oak Manor? Is it going to benefit from these other nearby, nice areas? I drove through this weekend to see a house and it still looked pretty spotty. I was thinking it might be a good investment, but I don't want it to take ten years to improve.

When I lived in Willow Meadows, no one I knew would look at Post Oak Manor. However, at that time Willowbend was considered risky! Now as Willowbend's prices are going up and up, it makes sense that POM will appreciate right along with it...can't ignore the proximity and the fact that there are no really ovbious boundaries between the two nabes. The only concern I would have is that the homes tend to be (sometimes quite a bit) smaller there, which is going to limit the market, and the price. However, as a strong, safe starter community, I think it is worth a look.

You'll do fine in Post Oak Manor. It's a nice quiet and hidden place to live. My friend drove by and he was very surprised at how much it has improved in the past decade. Just the land around Post Oak Manor is worth about $100,000+. A bargain compared to West University.
