Oh, and for anyone who's commute involves the southern half of the West Loop, there's another speed trap. It's commonly known as Bellaire.

Yeah but i was at the baseball game when they wrote me one and there werent any cars on the street.
Either way I went to the court, saw the judge, the original fine was $117, I asked the lady judge if she could lower it, which she did to $25 plus $42 court fee, so I saved $50.

^^Do not speed in Bellaire, unless you happen to enjoy getting stopped and being written a ticket. Including (but definitely not limited to) Loop 610.
Any small municipality (Bellaire, West U) gets much of its revenue from tickets. This works the same way in smaller towns - Kemah, Hitchcock immediately spring to mind.

What happens if Bellaire office tries to pull you over on 610 but you continue "Dont see the officer" until your back in Houston City Limits, can they still write your a ticket, technically I would think they no longer have jurisdiction.

If a Bellaire cop has to chase you, he's bringing pepperspray with a side order of tazer. I like the way you think except that this is an exceptionally bad idea.

I thought about it the other day when I saw a Bellaire cop pull someone close the Houston City Limits. I asked myself if he would just turn off his lights when he realized the perp is out of his jurisdiction.

You'll likely be dragged from the car and tazed, bro.
Technically, police officers are certified by the state and their jurisdiction is statewide. Police departments have "agreements" to respect each other's jurisdiction in most cases but don't expect a pursuit to end because of a boundary line. What would likely happen is the Bellaire cop would continue the pursuit and notify Houston cops who would join in the chase or show up at the stop. Don't expect a county or city line to save you.

I agree. If you have heard about a jurisdiction "catch" that seems kind of silly or some sort of "police restriction" that is very convenient for you, it probably doesn't hold real water.

no worries
You were speeding....bottom line. It sucks, yes. If you go ahead and go to court for the ticket (send in a "not guilty" plea), and you have a clean driving record, you should have the thing dismissed. Also, HPD is so short handed that they hardly have time to go to court in the first place. If you have a splotchy record, the defensive driving online is not a bad way to go. Seriously, speeding tickets suck, but it sucks even more to clear up wrecks from people who can't handle a higher speed limit on the freeways in Houston who turn them in to a freaking blood bath. I got a speeding ticket about a year ago on hwy 59 near downtown....I thought, "55 mph!?" But, those limits are there for a reason....just slow down and learn from it....move on, and know that you are doing something good and safe.
