City of South Houston
I have not seen South Houston, but from the demographics I see in the Census, South Houston is a mostly-Hispanic city of 15,833, roughly the size of Bellaire and West University Place.
South Houston is bordered by the cities of Houston and Pasadena.
According to City-Data, about 45% of the population has high school diplomas or higher. The Census states that about 34.1% of the population is under 18. Therefore, about 65.9% of the population is over 18. That means that 20.9% of the population is over 18 and does not have a completed high school education.
35% of the population is foreign born. 34.2% of the total population was born in Latin America.
South Houston has several businesses, including several in the Pasadena Plaza Shopping Center.
Grocery stores
* Fiesta (1603 Spencer Highway)
(Other chains, i.e. H-E-B, Kroger, and Randall's are in neighboring Houston and Pasadena)
Fast food
* Domino's (2312 Houston Blvd)
* McDonald's (503 College Avenue)
* Pizza Patrón (1618 Spencer Highway B-3)
(Other chains, i.e. Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Wendy's are in neighboring Houston and Pasadena)
South Houston's schools are in the Pasadena Independent School District.
Elementary schools that serve South Houston include:
* Pearl Hall Elementary School (South Houston)
* L.F. Smith Elementary School (South Houston)
* Walter Matthys Elementary School (South Houston)
* South Houston Elementary School (South Houston)
* Freeman Elementary School (Houston)
Residents residing west of Old Galveston Road are zoned to Rick Schneider Middle School (Houston, Grades 5-6) and South Houston Intermediate School (South Houston, Grades 7-8).
Residents residing east of Old Galveston Road are zoned to Queens Intermediate School (Pasadena, 6-8).
All residents are zoned to South Houston High School (South Houston, 9-12).

There's not much to see. It's very undesirable.

Pasadena Plaza????
South Houston is nowhere near what it used to be...Pasadena Plaza closed down sometime in the 80's. The main businesses now are only hispanic owned grocery stores, bars and strip clubs. It is NOT a desirable place to live. If you want to move to Houston stay farther north than here or Pasadena!!!

It also floods horribly as it has open ditches as opposed to sewers and most of the roads are crowned.

I would go either farther north or farther south. South Houston stopped evolving many years ago.
