Default What are the largest ethnic communities in Houston?

Hello,
I've heard about Houston's diversity and I was hoping you guys could tell me what are the largest ethnic communities in Houston.

Are there chinatowns, koreantowns, etc?

Houston does not have what I would describe as large segregated areas, but there are some places with concentrations of different ethnic businesses.

The largest ethnic group has to be Mexicans, which I do not mean in the generic sense. You can find markets for Vietnamese, Indian, Chinese and other ethnic cuisine and products. Also, Ikea seems to be the Swedish / Norwegian consulate (and they have great "Roe in a Tube"). I don't venture out of my bubble terribly often so I'm probably not the best person to ask, but even if you are looking for something as esoteric as cat meat I suspect you could find it here.

Whites are the largest ethnic group in Houston (Hispanics are the majority). There isn't really a whitetown, but you can find clusters of white related stores and shopping areas around white markets like Whole Foods.

You can learn more about white people here: Stuff White People Like

I didn't see anything about beer on that page.

Preferably real beer you can find in Europe and the white NW and NE states, not Budweiser type stuff.

There's a large community of all races there, but the most dominant is the Hispanics (mostly Mexican decentants).

Some more specific ethnic groups of note throughout Houston:

Vietnamese Americans
Chinese Americans
Nigerian Americans
Mexican Americans
Honduran Americans
Venezuelan Americans
Indian Americans
Pakistani Americans
Saudi Americans

And over the last 15 years, there's been an increase in the number of Jamaican and Cuban Americans in Houston. Still not enough to really note but percentage wise, they seemed to have increased substantially.

I've lived close to Branson for more than 10 years,
so I've seen enough St. Pat's and Oktoberfest celebrations
and I'm trying to find other things that I haven't seen.

Also increasing substantially seem to be the Non-American Mexicans, Hondurans, Venezualans, Salvadorans, etc.

Honest question: Does the zealous use of "hyphen American" seem to be painfully patronizing to anyone else?

Don't forget all the California Americans that seem to be moving here in droves lately.
