I'll be visiting Houston shortly and will be checking out some apartments while I'm in town. I'm going to be looking at Midtown as I would prefer a walkable area close to restaurants, coffee shops, etc. -- also, I would prefer to live around other young professionals (note: NOT college students!).

Other than Midtown, are there any other areas that you all feel would be worth a look? Safety is also important to me by the way...

Thanks for all of your help, you all have been extremely helpful and I appreciate it.

Lance

Museum District/Rice Village is nice and very walkable if you can afford it. Montrose is sandwiched in between the museum district and midtown and probably the most walkable neighborhood in Houston. It is also the most liberal and progressive area which depending on your tastes, could be good or bad. Midtown is filled with young professionals and very walkable, I would caution to stay away from the Greyhound station. Downtown may be the place to be if you are moving in the next couple of months. Houston Pavillions will be opening in October and a new downtown grocery store will be opening up across from Discovery Green later this year in the One Park Place building.
