Default Deerwood Homes in Houston?

Hi all. I am relocating from Beantown back to Texas in a few months! (I'll finally have a place to pahk the cah!) I am strongly considering buying a Deerwood Home in Shadow Creek Ranch in Pearland. Anyone in real estate, contruction or inspection know anything about this builder? quality? workmanship? They seem to be pretty reliable, and there are no pending inspections by the TRCC; Any help is greatly appreciated!

We are closing on a deerwood home in The Woodlands area and the inspector said it was built very well. My friends also bought one two blocks from me and they LOVE it.

I am a Realtor here in the Houston area. I have owned a Deerwood Home and when my parents decided to move to the area I worked with them to buy a Deerwood also. My wife and I loved our Deerwood and my parents have loved thiers. We had the typical maintenance issues you have with every home, but nothing major. When we decided to move to a different area after 4 years our house sold within a week and we made a nice profit on it. My parents are now thinking about selling thiers and after doing a market analysis on it I determined they are going to make quite a bit on thiers also. I would not hesitate to recommend Deerwood to anyone. I have remained in contact with the people that bought ours and they still love the house and have had no problems in the 8 years they have owned it. Hope this helps. Moderator cut: soliciting business. I am familiar with the Shadow Creek Ranch area as well as the rest of Pearland.

I purchased a Deerwood "spec" home two years ago and have not found this particular home to be very well built. I have a small crack in the foundation that the builder swears is a "shovel crack" but was not seen by independent inspection before purchase. I am also seeing separation in crown molding, dry wall as well as hairline cracks in some corners. Deerwood swears that this is settling and refuses to do anything about it. Beware of Deerwood service after the sale, it is not very good. Also, I recommend jumping on anything suspicious the first year as anything that appears after that is major drama to address.
