Buying a house! Asking home owners the reason for leaving!
Hi,
Do you ask the home owner that what is the reason for leaving? What if you don't think the reason is worth moving primarily because the home owner spent 20-30K on upgrades and lived in the house for 9-10 years?

Why does it matter what someone's motivation is? Get the place inspected, if you like it, buy it.

When I sold my last home, this question was asked to us several times. In fact, I think most of the people who walked through the house asked this. I think it's pretty common.
Just remember, a reason that may not be worth it to you may be worth it to somebody else.

Thanks!
@Mikeyyc, yes we will do home inspection. But does home inspection covers termites inspection and mole inspection?

No to termites - that is a seperate inspection - which is highly recomended by a home owner that did not do one, then got stuck with termite damage......

@brownybaby,
So, should I ask the home owner to do the termite inspection? What is they refuse to do it because it might be expensive?

10 years is a long time to spend in one house around these parts.

I would ask but they may not give you the honest answer. Some people leave because of neighbors (barking dog, inconsiderate, no young/old kids, etc) and you may not find that out until you move in to experience previous owners' discomfort.

@Wysiwyg
I guess 10 years is long. I always thought of a house as the final destination but I guess in US you change houses after 7-10 years.

@ therewego,
Thanks! actually after looking at the house we wander around the neighborhood. The neighbors even invited us in and gave us complimentary sodas. We asked the neighbors about the area and they told us is is a great area and they have no complains.
